 012 12:00 PM EDT\nDuration: 3 Hours , 30 Minutes\n\nDescription: \nWhy At
tend? With the growing importance of e-commerce, consolidations at all le
vels of distribution chains, and new forms of relationships between suppl
iers and distributors, the distribution and marketing of products in toda
y's economy raise a host of widely varying legal issues. This annual adva
nced course of study, brings together a faculty experienced in the many f
ields that most directly affect distribution: antitrust; dealer contracts
, relations, and termination; business franchise and dealer protection la
ws; consumer protection laws; advertising and unfair competition; intelle
ctual property; and international trade. Registrants benefit from the per
spectives of government enforcement representatives and internationally-b
ased private practitioners, some with prior experience working in the gov
ernment or as corporate counsel. In addition to examining the aftermath o
f the U.S. Supreme Court's Leegin decision, which overturned the century-
old per se rule, the course covers the Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Hydrogen P
eroxide, Toys ?R? Us, and Babies ?R? Us cases. The course also considers
the effect of the law in the contexts of client counseling, planning and
management of distribution relationships, and the acquisition of distribu
tion businesses. For this San Francisco presentation, we include segments
on distribution issues particular to technology industries and distribut
ion in Asia. The course also offers practical advice, such as how to: Ach
ieve business objectives and solve client problems without violating the
antitrust laws; Establish distribution networks without inadvertently bec
oming a franchisor; Train sales and marketing departments to avoid unnece
ssary risks; and Plan for and avoid supplier-distributor discord. What Yo
u Will Learn: This unique multidisciplinary program covers all the varied
legal issues facing distribution counsel, from antitrust and pricing to
e-commerce and advertising. It is the only course that provides comprehen
