 012 4:45 PM EDT\nDuration: 3 Hours , 30 Minutes\n\nDescription: \nWhy Att
end? With the growing importance of e-commerce, consolidations at all lev
els of distribution chains, and new forms of relationships between suppli
ers and distributors, the distribution and marketing of products in today
's economy raise a host of widely varying legal issues. This annual advan
ced course of study, brings together a faculty experienced in the many fi
elds that most directly affect distribution: antitrust; dealer contracts,
relations, and termination; business franchise and dealer protection law
s; consumer protection laws; advertising and unfair competition; intellec
tual property; and international trade. Registrants benefit from the pers
pectives of government enforcement representatives and internationally-ba
sed private practitioners, some with prior experience working in the gove
rnment or as corporate counsel. In addition to examining the aftermath of
the U.S. Supreme Court's Leegin decision, which overturned the century-o
ld per se rule, the course covers the Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Hydrogen Pe
roxide, Toys ?R? Us, and Babies ?R? Us cases. The course also considers t
he effect of the law in the contexts of client counseling, planning and m
anagement of distribution relationships, and the acquisition of distribut
ion businesses. For this San Francisco presentation, we include segments
on distribution issues particular to technology industries and distributi
on in Asia. The course also offers practical advice, such as how to: Achi
eve business objectives and solve client problems without violating the a
ntitrust laws; Establish distribution networks without inadvertently beco
ming a franchisor; Train sales and marketing departments to avoid unneces
sary risks; and Plan for and avoid supplier-distributor discord. What You
Will Learn: This unique multidisciplinary program covers all the varied
legal issues facing distribution counsel, from antitrust and pricing to e
-commerce and advertising. It is the only course that provides comprehens
ive coverage of the key issues that counsel involved in product distribut
