The American Bar Association Section of International Law and
Practice www.abanet.org/intlaw/home.html
is the gateway to global expertise and the international legal
community. Long the home of leading experts in international law,
the Section offers a network to those who practice in international
settings. The Section provides reliable and expert knowledge and
perspective on cutting-edge international issues.
Members come from diverse backgrounds. Fifty per cent are in
private practice, 1,500 are in-house counsel, 850 are U.S. lawyers
living abroad, and 1,300 are non-U.S. lawyers from 90 countries.
The Section is the leader in advocacy for international legal
policy and the rule of law.
The International Lawyer, the award-winning
quarterly law journal on international practice, and
International Law News, a quarterly newsletter with
updates on international practice and section events are two
prominent benefits of membership. Members receive discounts on
other relevant and practical publications, including the acclaimed
International Lawyer's Deskbook, which explores important
international legal issues and is a vital resource for all
lawyers.
Committee membership is available to section members: the 55
substantive committees are grouped into five divisions -- General,
Business Regulation, Business Transaction and Disputes, Comparative
Law, and Public International Law. Four seasonal meetings,
committee meetings, teleconferences, and videoconferences offer
opportunities for CLE. Conference calls, listserves, and webboards
offer other avenues of communication.
