As we emerge from a significant period of economic stress and unprecedented pressure on the traditional “law firm business model, it is clear that the model will certainly change in response to known long-term trends including:

• Client frustration with the escalating cost of legal services, and the underlying cost drivers pushing fees ever higher 
• Increasing frustration with law firm talent models that force the cost of training expensive new lawyers onto the client 
• Fundamental misalignment of law firm incentives with client value, and 
• Increasing frustration with the basic service delivery mechanisms employed by many firms

These trends alone will force a rethinking of the business models of many firms over the next several years. But other forces, some glimpsed and others yet to emerge, may ultimately have an even greater impact.

In this seminar, we will discuss the likely impact of known trends and offer thoughts on preparing your firm for potentially disruptive changes yet to come. In addition, we will focus on the interconnectedness of the various components of the law firm business model, and discuss how law firm leaders should deal with the “ripple effects” generated by their current market adaptation efforts.
