Description:

The state transportation reform package signed into law by Governor Patrick in June represents the most significant restructuring of the Commonwealth’s transportation bureaucracy in a generation. With the new Massachusetts Department of Transportation coming into existence on November 1, it is critical for practitioners who deal with the current range of transportation agencies and authorities to get up to speed with the roll-out of the new regime and how it will affect the future of major mixed-use redevelopment projects above transportation facilities or land.

Organized in two complementary panels of experts and integral players in the know, the program will first seek to demystify the newly created DOT, the legislation from which it was born, and the government’s plan to bring the Commonwealth’s transportation infrastructure, management, and vision into the 21st century. In addition, the session will grant attendees a rare insider’s look at a current development project that will represent not only a maiden voyage aboard the new transportation regime but also emphasize how the increasingly prevalent and controversial issue of air rights is approached by developers, lenders, and permitting authorities.

  • Reorganization of EOT into the New Department of Transportation
  • Opportunities with the EOT/DOT, “Fenway Center”
